Dave Kenton is a life-long resident of Delaware graduating in 1972 from the University of Virginia (Charlottesville) with a degree in Economics.
Dave served a two-year tour in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969-1971 serving at El Toro Marine Air Station in California. He was editor of the Sussex County Post (Millsboro) newspaper from 1973-75 and was president of Milford Airpark Flight School and Georgetown Aviation from 1975-1980. He earned an Airline Transport flight rating and Instrument Flight Instructor certificates while accumulating 12,000 flight hours. He was hired in 1980 to sell simulator flight training to major corporations by FlightSafety International, an international corporation specializing in flight simulators. Dave rose to the level of Regional Airline national sales manager before leaving FlightSafety in 1995 to pursue a career in real estate in Rehoboth Beach.
Dave started his real estate career as a residential agent, but quickly moved into commercial and specialty sales with O’Conor, Piper & Flynn and later with Coldwell Banker in Rehoboth. He was sales agent of the year in 2002-2007 in the Rehoboth office and was Coldwell Banker’s top agent for commercial sales in the Mid-Atlantic region for 2005-2006. Dave was a major participant in many large land and business transactions in Kent & Sussex counties in Delaware during the recent real estate expansion from 2002-2007. Dave and his son Casey together have closed in excess of $250 million in total sales volume. Several notable highlights include the sale of the Milford Airpark to Wal-Mart, the sale of a 92 slip marina, the sale of a 140 acre WWII coast artillery fort (Fort Salisbury) and the sale of the former landmark site of the Mispillion Lighthouse near Slaughter Beach, DE.
Dave is involved in civic affairs in his hometown of Milford, Delaware serving as President of the Milford Historical Society 1998-2003 and Chairman of the Milford Museum from 2006-2010. He published a postcard book history of Milford, DE in 2000. He is an active committeeman for the 36th Representative District in Delaware and supports many local civic activities. His hobbies include flying, aerial photography, historic research and bluegrass music.
